Dr Katherine Ngu

BDS(Syd), MDSc(Syd), FRACDS, MRACDS(Paed) Paediatric Dentist

Dr Katherine obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Master of Dental Science in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Sydney and is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) and is a Member of the Special Field of Paediatric Dentistry of the College. She has worked in both public and private practice for over 20 years and has held specialist roles at the Sydney Dental Hospital and Westmead Hospital. She is a member of Australian Dental Association, Australasian Academy of Paediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Dr Katherine has a clear love for what she does and for the children she works with, this is reflected through her warm, patient and professional manner. At home, she enjoys reading with her daughter and going out for long bush walks with the entire family.

Dr Connie Tao

 MB, BS(Hons.)(Syd), FANZCA, 2004 Anaesthetist

Dr Connie Tao graduated from the University of Sydney in 1996 with First Class Honours at graduation and the Zammit Award for Final Year. She is currently a VMO at Westmead & Concord Hospitals, Westmead Private, SAN and Macquarie Hospitals.

Dr Tao is currently a Clinical Tutor at the SAN Clinical School (University of Sydney). She has postgraduate qualifications including: Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Echocardiography (University of Melbourne) and Master of Medicine (Perioperative Medicine) at Monash University. Her areas of special interest are paediatric anaesthesia, cardio-thoracic anaesthesia, obstetric, regional anaesthesia, head and neck/ENT anaesthesia and airway management. Dr Tao enjoys traveling with her husband and two children.

Dr Martin Chau

M.B,B.S (Syd), MMED, FANZCA

Dr Martin Chau graduated from Sydney University. He also has a Master Degree of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology which emphasizes on providing clinical practice according to the best current evidence. He completed his anaesthetic training at Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Hospital. He is a VMO anaesthetist at Auburn Hospital, Blacktown Hospital, Norwest Private Hospital, Prince of Wales Private Hospital and Westmead Private Hospital. His areas of special interest are paediatric, dental/maxillofacial, ENT, urological, obstetric and gynaecological anaesthesia. He enjoys good food and exercise.

Dr Sandra Cheng

Anaesthetist 

Dr Sandra Cheng is a specialist anaesthetist who completed both her specialist training and her undergraduate medicine degree in Sydney. She has completed a combined fellowship in paediatric and adult anaesthesia at the Sydney Children’s and Prince of Wales Hospitals, as well as a simulation fellowship at the Royal North Shore Simulation Centre.

Her interests include paediatric anaesthesia, medical education, and anaesthesia for day surgery. She enjoys getting a “good run” through Sydney traffic, and undisturbed sleep time.

Dr Suzanne Brent

Paediatric Dentist 

Dr. Suzanne Brent completed her undergraduate dental training at the University of Sydney and graduated with second class Honours in 1991. After graduating she worked as a Dental Officer at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health for 3 years before commencing her specialist training. In 1997 she gained Fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and completed her post-graduate Specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry through The University of Sydney at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health in 1998.

Dr. Suzanne was awarded the Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry Colgate Post-graduate Research Prize for her thesis research project –“ 3 Dimensional Reconstructions of the Medial Edge Epitheilium During Palatal Fusion in Rats”in 1997 and was also awarded the Societa Italiana Di Odontoratia Infantile prize for the best poster presentation by a non-italian participant at the 4th Congress of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry in 1998.

Following gaining specialist registration Dr. Suzanne worked for 12 months at the Sydney Dental Hospital as the Junior Specialist in the Paediatric Dentistry Department, before commencing full-time private specialist practice at Hornsby in 1999.

Dr, Brent ran her own private Paediatric Specialist Practice at Hornsby between 1999-2015. During this time she served as one of the Dental Representatives on the Medical Advisory Committee of the SAN Day Surgery at Hornsby from 2006 – 2015 and she was an examiner in the Australian Dental Council Viva Examinations from 2004-2006.

In 2015 Dr. Brent ceased private specialist practice and returned to the Sydney Dental Hospital to take up the position of Senior Clinical Specialist in the Department of Paediatric Dentistry which she held until November 2021. In this role she held appointments as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney and was a Visiting Specialist Paediatric Dentist to the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick and The Canterbury Hospital.

In November 2021 following a decision to relocate to the Southern Highlands and transition to part-time employment Dr. Brent resigned from her role as Senior Clinical Specialist Paediatric Dentist and worked within the Bowral and Tahmoor Community Dental Clinics within the South Western Sydney Area Health Service between May 2022 and March 2023 before returning to private specialist practice with Dr . Katherine Ngu and the Smile Group Team at Castle Hill.

Shanny Ho

Oral Hygiene Therapist

Shanny has been working within the industry since starting a Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Sydney in 2007. She has further studied her graduate certificate in Oral Health Science at the University of Adelaide.

Shanny is dual qualified with an extended scope in adult therapy.

Outside of work Shanny enjoys loves trying new foods and caring for her dogs Wesley and Frankie.

Corinne O'Donovon

Oral Hygiene Therapist

Along with over 13 years of valuable experience as a Dental Assistant, Corinne graduated with Distinction in a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy from the University of Newcastle in 2023.

Her passion for helping children, combined with her warm and caring manner, has made her a vital part of any young child’s dental experiences.

Beyond her professional life, she loves baking delicious cupcakes, showcasing her eye for detail. She also loves to spend time with her family, including her gorgeous little pup, Ziggy.
